It Feels Good to be Home!

Doug Mientkiewicz just had himself a career night, 3 for 4 with a single, a double, and a huge home run that banged off the front of the upper deck! No surprise, well not to me, it was at Yankee Stadium.

About a week and a half ago I was chopping it up with a friend about the Bombers. We were discussing how well Mientkiewicz has been playing at home this year. So far for 2007, while at home, he's batting .298, .370, .511, .881. Not bad for a guy who was picked up for his glove!

When I dug a little deeper I found out that his 2007 numbers are remarkably similar to his career numbers at Yankee Stadium, .308, .380, .505, .885. That's a difference of only .010 in OBP, .006 in SLG and .004 in OPS!

It's early in 2007, and his sample size for this season (55 PA, 47 AB @ YS), is slightly less than half of the sample size for his career through 2006 (122 PA, 107AB @ YS) but for Mienktkiewicz, well it feels good to home!
